How content moderation works on Sivis
What checks does a message go through before it reaches the stage? Automatic review, link checks and user reports.
Checked before it goes live
On Sivis, every message and comment goes through an automatic check before it is published. The goal is to keep clear violations off the stage: profanity and insults, hate speech, threats, other people’s personal information, illegal content and harmful links.
The check takes a few seconds. If a message is rejected, the author sees which kind of rule it broke and can edit it and try again.
Three layers
The first layer is hard rules: a message containing a valid Turkish national ID number, for example, is rejected without further review. The second layer is a language model that reads the message in context and decides whether it is an insult, a threat or a disclosure of personal data. The third layer checks links against known phishing and malware threat lists.
Promoting your own site, business or project is allowed. Promoting illegal activity — illegal betting, forged documents or fraud — is rejected.
Why before, not after?
On a single-stage platform a bad message has an outsized effect: for a few minutes everyone sees the same thing. Checking before publishing keeps the stage safe for everyone, instead of cleaning up afterwards.
Automatic review is not perfect. To protect free expression in borderline cases, only clear violations are rejected; doubtful content can be published and reviewed through reports.
Reporting
You can report any message from the menu on its card: spam, harassment, hate speech, violence, inappropriate content or another reason. Reports are reviewed by the admins, and content found to break the rules is removed.
Transparency
What is not allowed is public on the Community Rules page. When the rules change, the current text is published there and registered users are asked to accept the updated terms.
FAQ
Why was my message rejected?
The rejection screen shows the type of violation. The most common reasons are insults, someone else’s personal information and harmful links. You can edit and resend it.
Is moderation done by a person?
The pre-publication check is automatic. Reported content is reviewed by the admins.
Can I share links?
Yes. Only known phishing or malware addresses and promotion of illegal activity are rejected.
